Maruti Suzuki’s Total Dispatches Fall On Lower India Sales

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.’s total dispatches to dealerships fell 1.3% year-on-year to 1.38 lakh units in December as lower India sales dragged the overall tally.

The company’s overall dispatches in 2023 crossed 20 lakh units for the first time ever in a calendar year.

Eicher Motors Commercial Vehicle Arm’s Sales Rise

Eicher Motors Ltd.’s subsidiary VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd.’s dispatches to dealerships rose 11% to 8,026 units.

Sales Highlights (YoY):

  • Domestic sales rose 12% to 7,468 units.
  • Exports fell 3.3% to 321 units.

 

M&M Utility Vehicle Sales Rise 24%, Tractor Dispatches Fall 18%

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s utility vehicle sales rose 24% to 35,171 units in December. The tractor sales witnessed higher-than-expected fall with decline in both domestic sales and exports.

“Retail momentum slowed down on account of tapering of agricultural activities, which is the norm in the month of December,” Hemant Sikka, president of farm equipment sector, said in statement.

  • Three-wheeler sales rose 5% to 5,307 units.

Bajaj Auto’s Two-Wheeler Sales Rise On Robust Domestic Dispatches

Bajaj Auto Ltd.’s total two-wheeler sales rose 15% to 2.83 lakh units in December as robust domestic dispatches offset slower growth in exports.

  • Total sales rose 16% to 3.27 lakh units.
  • Domestic two-wheeler sales rose 26% to 1.58 lakh units.
  • Two-wheeler exports rose 3% to 1.25 lakh units.
  • Three-wheeler sales rose 27% to 43,805 units.

 

Escorts Kubota Ltd.’s total dispatches to dealerships fell 19% to 4,536 units due to lower sales in the domestic market.

“Rural sentiments were impacted due to delay in crop harvest, lower rabi sowing, thus affecting both retail and wholesale,” the company said in a statement.

  • Domestic sales fell 17% to 4,131 units.
  • Exports fell 32% to 405 units.

 

Hyundai Motors

Hyundai Motors saw a 9 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase in sales totalling 7,65,786 units in 2023. In 2022, the company had sold a total of 7,00,811 units. It also achieved the highest-ever domestic sales in a calendar year. Its exports grew 10 percent to 1,63,675 units in 2023 compared to 1,48,300 units in 2022.

MG Motor India

MG Motor recorded an 18 percent boost in retail sales totalling 56,902 units in 2023 of which around 25 percent of the sales were recorded in the electric vehicle segment. The company’s flagship Comet EV has seen sales of 20,000 units to date. The company said that with 18 percent growth, it was a fourth consecutive year of gains.
